Next week I’m releasing the Best of Impactful Podcasts 2024! I put together a list last year and wanted to do it again to highlight important shows. While I’m busy putting that together, this edition will share some other recaps and some updates.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court heard U.S. v. Skrmetti, which could decide the future of gender-affirming care for youth, and have likely implications for trans adults as well. Amy Gastelum produced a two-part series for Making Contact earlier this year and encourages everyone to listen and take action with the resources provided in the guide they’ve developed. Speaking of recommendations from other podcasters, I asked a few folks what they were listening to and wanted to share these recommendations from June Neely, host of Story for Good, who interviewed me on her show this year!
"Diversity Work [is] a fictional podcast about a diverse television writers room trying to tick all the diversity boxes at once." I highly recommend this podcast because it explores what it means to truly create a diverse workspace and the systems we have to fight against.
Also, if you are looking for something on the non-social impact side, June says to check out this fiction podcast Hello from the Magic Tavern. The show description reads,
“Arnie Niekamp fell through a dimensional portal behind a Burger King into the fantastical land of Foon. He's still getting a slight wifi signal, so he uploads a weekly podcast from the tavern the Vermilion Minotaur where he interviews wizards, monsters and adventurers. It's a major discovery!”
