Soil Health IS Human Health
Organic farmers recognize that healthy soil is the foundation for producing nutrient-rich food, clean water, and a healthy environment, all of which are vital for human well-being. That said, foods grown in healthy soils are being rapidly replaced by those grown in either toxic soils or those grown without soil at all, such as hydroponically or in containers filled with soilless substrates. We seek to give voice to these issues and the impending, negative transformation of the food system at the hands of industry in efforts to protect the health of all life on Earth.

๐จ Calls to Action
Shop Certified: Look for the Real Organic Project label in stores and find a certified farm near you through our online directory.
Also, remember that while admittedly flawed, the USDA Organic program has a legally defensible set of standards, including the directive to grow food in soil. This legal definition makes it worth saving, even when faced with pressure from newer marketplace terms like โRegenerativeโ which is currently used by Syngenta, Monsanto, Cargill, McDonalds, and Pepsi. Buying USDA-certified organic food is still the best way to prevent farmworker exposure to harmful biocides.
Ask: When you shop, please โJust Askโ in your produce section about which USDA-certified organic fruits and veggies are grown in soil and which are grown hydroponically. Plenty of employees wonโt know and may not even understand the question, but starting the conversation is important!
