Canadian podcasting newsletter,
, has launched its official flagship podcast: "Canardian", the podcast gossiping about the hometowns of Canadian podcasters. Fake lakes, unruly teens, and sketchy psychics are all in store. Listen now!ΒICYMI: Sounds Like Impact has gone bi-weekly! And at the beginning of this month I reflected on one year of this newsletter, whatβs next, and shared some Earth month recs.

Renewable Energy & An Electric Future
As we talk about climate change and other topics crucial to the environment, it's important to take into account the steps being taken to decarbonize the economy -- aka reducing our dependency on carbon gases and moving toward renewable energy sources. The most prominent example of this is the emergence of electric cars, which many hope will surge past gas-fueled cars in popularity. I hope these episodes will give readers great insight and this topic!
-Mallory Carra, Lead Producer of Electric Futures and Adjunct Professor at USC Annenberg
Electric Futures is a podcast from University of Southern Californiaβs Center for Climate Journalism and Communication. Keep up with the show on Instagram @usc_electricfutures.
Electric Futures, Lithium Valley | Episode 1: The White Gold Rush
The first episode of Electric Futures introduces the audience to Imperial Valley, California, which, due to its lithium reserves, could be a region that plays a key role in decarbonizing the economy.
Climate Rising, Decarbonizing Industrial Processes with Material Science
Iβm a big fan of Climate Rising, a great podcast from Harvard Business School. This episode covers how the industrial sector can be decarbonized by electrifying manufacturing.
How to Save a Planet, Make Biking Cool (Again)!
We should always remember that biking (and walking) are still cool alternate options to driving. This episode also includes some fun pop culture clips.
Unexplained Mysteries, Clean Energy: How Soon Can It Happen?
While I worked at Spotify's Parcast Studios (RIP), my colleagues worked on a great network-wide special about climate change. This is one of the stellar episodes and it tackles clean energy.
π£ Spotlight
In 2021, three queer women set off on a journey across the U.S. to document the last remaining lesbian bars. Cruising is the audio documentary that resulted, and with two seasons under their belt, I talk with the team about how it all came together, the importance of these spaces and their showβs impact.
βAnyoneβs welcome, just donβt be an a**hole!β Weβve heard this sentiment from bartenders, owners, and regulars at lesbian bars across the country. We can say confidently that every single one of these bars is welcoming to people that do not identify as lesbians, itβs just about being respectful of the space and the people in it. So if you have any interest in experiencing and/or supporting a lesbian bar - you should definitely go! Thereβs something really unique and special about spaces created by queer women. Thereβs warmth, and community, and an intentionality to be inclusive thatβs a lot harder to find at other kinds of bars.
